The blind date from hell is about to get hotter…

Brianne Nave is never doing her friends a favor again. When they begged her to go on a blind date, she didn’t expect someone so perfectly gorgeous. She’s a mousy librarian—totally not in this man’s league. And judging by his odd reaction when she opens the door, he knows it, too.

Air Force Pararescuer Ryan Flannery avoids his hometown at all costs. He’s not thrilled about the date until he’s shocked silent by the prickly little librarian’s sweet curves and kissable lips…and her smart mouth. But then an argument leads to a kiss that spirals out of control. How can two people have so little chemistry outside the bedroom when they fit together so perfectly in it?

When their friends strand them in a cabin to "work things out," Bri’s not sure whether to kill him or put the industrial-sized box of condoms they find to use. Bottom line—Ryan’s career military and hates the tiny town she loves. He’ll leave, just like everyone else in her life. And if she’s foolish enough to give him her heart, he’ll take it with him.

Blurb by Goodreads

THE HOT NEW NAME IN PARANORMAL ROMANCE.

Nalini Singh dives into a world torn apart by a powerful race with phenomenal powers of the mind-and none of the heart.

In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of "rehabilitation" - the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was...

Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy coexistence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion - and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities - or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation...

Back when I started Psy-Changeling series I was and still am a huge Christine Feehan fan and it was her quote on the cover ("I love this book! It's a must read for all my fans.") that got me interested in wanting to read this series. Instantly fell in love with Psy-Changeling series and Nalini Singh writing style.

Slave To Sensation is one of those novels I would love to go back and read for the first time and experience the unique world between Changeling's and Psy that Nalini Singh has brilliantly created. Loved that she brought a mixture of sci fi and paranormal together. For me I have never and still have not read anything like this.

Loved the layers that were peeled away little by little in Sascha's character. She starts off emotionless and a bit spineless. But that is how she was raised. Enjoyed how she gradually showed her emotions and for sure got a backbone especially when it came to Lucas. Sascha is a sweetheart once it came to Lucas pack.

Now Lucas is what I love in my cat shifter heroes. He is protective of the ones he loves but is also a sweetheart. Working side by side with Sascha his cat and him become infatuated with her. He becomes possessive and protective of her. He  has an alpha male attitude but knows when to take down a notch when it comes to her. I loved that there is no insta love, readers are right along with these characters getting to know each other and rooting for them to become a couple and once they do they are hot fan your-self together.

Nalini Singh does an outstanding job at bringing many characters together with out taking away from the main characters. I love in my novels secondary characters and when done right add so much to the story line. All secondary characters play into her story line and she never bombards readers with too much info on them. She gives readers just  enough info to where readers want to know more about them. All the different characters with the mixed breeds, wolf and cat shifters and even the psy bring Slave To Sensation to life. Everyone has their own voice and personality. Even though this novel is Paranormal Romance her characters and world feel real. I love how they are all known to the world and live everyday life like real families.  For me I love mix breeds and the journey with Cat and Wolf Shifters working together to find the killer was at times a hoot.

Nalini Singh is the queen of Alpha Male heroes. I loved that there are many alpha males in her story and they never feel out of place. I have fallen a tad behind in Psy-Changeling series and excited I am able to partake in 2014 Psy-Changeling read a long hosted by Herding Cats & Burning Soup and Aly Miscellany. Look for forward to next up for Feb. Vaughn story in Visions of Heat (Psy-Changeling #2).

Oh my Horse is yummy and most likely ruin it for all other Biker Babe heroes. Excited Reaper's Legacy (Reapers MC #2) comes out Jan. 28th.

Quote: 1
Fun Horse

“You look like shit,” Horse said helpfully as he pulled up a lawn chair next to me. He sounded almost cheerful, which annoyed me. I glared at him and he smirked. “Still got a sweet butt though.”
I went from annoyed to pissed. “Don’t call me that,” I snapped. “I don’t like it.”
“I know,” he replied. “That’s why I do it. You’re cute when you’re pissed. Kind of like a wet kitten. Gets me hard.”

Quote: 2
Sweet Horse

“I want this,” he said softly, leaning over and kissing me between the shoulder blades. “I need to own you. All of you. Make you scream and realize that you belong to me and I belong to you and nothing else matters. I can’t let you slip away from me, babe.”

Quote: 3
Dirty Mouth Horse

I meant what I said,” Horse told me, his face tight and cold. “You belong to me. Nobody else gets this pussy. You got that?”

Marie doesn’t need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed, badass biker who shows up at her brother’s house one afternoon doesn’t agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now.

But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she’s not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse—she doesn’t know his real name or where he lives, she’s ninety percent certain he’s a criminal and that the “business” he talks with her brother isn’t website design. She needs him out of her life, which would be a snap if he’d just stop giving her mind-blowing orgasms.

Horse is part of the Reapers Motorcycle Club, and when he wants something, he takes it. What he wants is Marie, but she’s not interested in becoming “property of”.

Then her brother steals from the club. Marie can save him by giving Horse what he wants—at home, in public, on his bike… If she’s a very, very good girl, she’ll get lots more of those orgasms only he can offer, and he’ll let her brother live.
Maybe.

For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday. So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Them…
Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession. But the one thing they can’t find is a future. Spoil Free Review

I have come to learn that when I read a M. Leighton novel I am going to get a story  with lovable characters that have secrets. And with those secrets I never know what they are or when they will be revealed until it is time for them to be revealed and fall nicely in the novel.

As for Sloane the heroine her secret I pretty much had an idea of what it was. It made sense why she wanted to spread her wings and live life in the moment. It was the reason why her brothers and dad were over protective of her. It was believable and made me love her character more. I enjoyed that she had a backbone and knew when to speak up with her family and knew when to let some things go.

As for her brothers and dad, I fell in love with them in the beginning and fell harder for them through out the novel. They all have Alpha Male attitudes when it comes to their sister and daughter. They are extremely over protective but also understanding and sweet. All the moments with her through out the novel are believable not just bunch of over bearing alpha male characters throwing orders around. I really grew to adore her father more especially after his talk with her about Hemi.

Now Hemi's secret I had many scenario's running through my head and wow was I surprise none came close to what is was. The moment Sloane walked into the Tattoo Sop and got caught checking him out I was already liking his character. Innocent Sloane is a distraction he does not need at this moment in his life. He has only been with experienced lovers and they all know to be out by the time he gets out of the bathroom. He is not "the breakfast kind of guy".  He finds it harder and harder to keep himself in control when he is around Sloane.

"But nothing. For tonight, I'll be the good guy you need me to be. Whether you know you need it or not. I'm asking you to leave, Sloane. But I promise you-promise you-that if you so much as darken my doorway again, I won't let you walk back out again."

Right along with Sloane I fell harder and harder for sexy wearing 501 button fly jeans Hemi and his tatted up-pierce brow-1969 Camaro driving-jealous-possessive-alpha male attitude. Love that their friendship builds into a romance there is no intsa love. His jealous and possessive moments are gradually done through out the novel where fit the scenes. There is no angst but they do have their ups and down moments. I am not always a huge fan of virgin heroines because lately it seems to be the trend to have a virgin heroine who is clumsy. That was not the case here. Sloane is a virgin and not clumsy, but being raised with her over protective family and since been caged in all her life she really does not have a lot of dating experience. She  knows what she wants and she wants Hemi. She is not one to shy away when it comes to getting what she wants. Their sexual tension and love making scenes are fan your self hot with a dirty talking hero. M. Leighton did a beautiful but yet sexy job on their first love scene.  Loved that they were playful and she knew how to get him hot and bothered and vice versa. The best parts for me was there were a lot of first moments for both of them.

So much sexiness going on in ATPL that is written well with delicious detailed description's. I felt every touch and every tattoo being inked. I want a tattoo artist, Hemi for my very own. Love that this is a series and Reese who is Hemi's brother is up next in All the Pretty Poses (Pretty #2) . Curious about his brothers since we got more on her family and not enough on his. I am interested to see what his family is like.

I was excited to start the Masters and Mercenaries series as I heard this series is like Cherise Sinclair's Masters Of The Shadowlands series and Shayla Black's Wicked Lovers Series.  So if loved those series then would like this series. No for me The Dom Who Loved Me the first in the Masters and Mercenaries is nothing like Masters Of Shadowlands  or Wicked Lovers Series. The only thing in common with both series is the BDSM and D/s theme. The hero Sean and writing style does not even come close to both series.

The novel started out good and was enjoying getting to know all the characters was even crushing on Sean. Right away he had an alpha male attitude and was not over the top. I actually enjoyed up until after the sexy pool scene that was hot and showed readers how he can lose his control when it comes to Grace. The Novel for me really started going down hill when Sean and Grace started their D/s fling. As individual characters I loved them. Grace character is caring and put others first before her own needs. She at times can be insincere as she is 40 and Sean is a hunk who is 8 years younger than her. Her character felt real as I can see where some of her insincerities would be when coming to him being interested in her. I loved that Sean was possessive and jealous when it came to Grace. And at times did love his dirty talking mouth.  But once there relationship started I felt disconnected with them. I love my D/s and BDSM reads but I need to feel that there is more than just harsh commands as "do this" and "do that".  I needed with Sean to be more caressing and caring to Grace during their intimate scenes. That being this I felt the sex scenes were not scorcher-panty-changer scenes. To me they came off more steamy-cold-shower needed.  The huge turn off for me was the insta love, at that moment was about ready to call it quits. They slept together twice and already both said I Love You to each other. There was no build up to them falling in love with each other.

Quite a few times was ready to call this novel quits. The only reason I stuck it out, I was curious to see when and  how she was going to react about him being undercover. And what was going on with the plot about his team being undercover. I enjoyed the outcome of when she found out and her actions. So was hoping the novel would get better from there but no it actually got worse.

Love the idea of a BDSM theme mixed with a suspenseful plot. For me the best parts were with the secondary characters and the actual suspenseful plot. Another reason I kept reading was for the secondary characters as I enjoyed them all.  They all have their own voice and loved reading when any of the team were together. Adam and Jake were a hoot together while being under cover.  Loved the brotherly love between Sean and his brother Ian. Loved there talks and banter. Any scene with Sean, Liam or Adam were very good. I did enjoy that the novel was unpredictable. Rating 2 stars- OK instead of 3 stars- Liked it because I really had a hard time connecting with Sean and Grace as a D/s couple.  Even though I loved the suspenseful plot and secondary characters I really did not like how the writing was for the D/s and BDSM theme and a few times ready to call it quits on this book.

The epilogue I was not a fan of, Grace and Sean do have a HEA. It was ok as it does set up for the next novel who I believe will be Adam and Jake story. Enjoyed their characters but not sure at this moment if I will continue the series or try any other novels. I think if I could of at times even connected with Grace and Sean as a couple I would most likely try book 2 in this series.

Quote-Tastic: The Burn List by Julia Devlin

Quote-Tastic is a meme hold on Mondays by Herding Casts & Burning SoupJoin them  every Monday and share a favorite quote that's grabbed ya for one reason or another.

It has been since July 2012 I have read The Burn List by Julia Devlin and it was 5 stars so freakin amazing that I still think about Lukas. I started crushing on Lukas by Chapter 3 and 6 months later still crushing on him.  The Burn List is a keeper for me.

Really it should be  a law that everyone have a least one sexy neighbor who is sweet and sexy. OK maybe not. I would so be in trouble. Ha..ha...I  would be one of those crazy neighbors with the binoculars watching him mow his grass.

If interested to see why Lukas is still in my thoughts check out my spoil free review.

Quote: 1
Lukas is a sexy and sweet fireman who knows what a woman wants in the bedroom.   I am a sucker for heroes who show a lot of affection by always caressing his lovers. I love how he is always curling his hands around her neck, tracing his thumb on her bottom lip and putting his forehead against hers.  This teaser by chapter 2  had me all hot and bothered and found him sexy as sin.

And then what?” she asked with breathless anticipation.

Unable to hold back any longer, he leaned in close their mouths were barely touching. “I’ll fuck you as hard and as rough as you can take it.”

Quote: 2
Dirty Talker

He broke the kiss, running his thumb over her bottom lip. "I've been dreaming about that eager little mouth wrapped around my cock all day."

Quote: 3
Possessive

In that case," Trevor said with a grin, "I'm sure you won't mind if I take Abby onto the dance floor."

"I mind," Lukas snarled

After spending her thirtieth birthday with her parents, straight-as-an-arrow Abby Simmons drowns her sorrows in a bottle of tequila and a splash of margarita mix. All she wants is a little excitement, one chance to go wild before she settles back into her regularly scheduled life. Fueled by liquid courage, Abby sets out to give herself the perfect gift—her bad-boy neighbor, firefighter Lukas Marlow.

Sure, Lukas likes intoxicated girls looking to turn their fantasies into reality as much as the next guy, but this is sweet little Abby. Definitely on the do-not-touch list. Determined to save her from embarrassment, he sends her away with an order to sleep it off and a promise to fulfill her desires in the sober light of day. Confident he’s scared her away for good, nothing could have shocked him more than an email from Abby the next morning, outlining her sexual to-do list.

Turns out his quiet neighbor isn’t such a good girl after all, and Lukas has no other choice but to make her burn.

Publisher’s Note: Previously published elsewhere, but has been revised and expanded for Ellora’s Cave.

Assassin's Heart (Order of the Sicari #2)
by Monica Burns

The truth of the soul.

Lysander Condellarie never understood why he had telepathic and telekinetic powers until the night his Praetorian father tortured him and left him for dead. Now, the half-angelic, half-demonic face he sees in the mirror is a reminder of the monster he must keep hidden or face expulsion from the order of assassins know as the Sicari. But his dreams of Ancient Rome hint at a destiny he finds hard to accept, especially when it involves the woman he loves, but can never have.

The consequences of desire.

A gifted healer in the Order, Phaedra DeLuca witnessed her mother’s murder when she was just a little girl. The haunting memory makes her loathe everything Praetorian. When she travels to Rome in search of an ancient artifact, she must work alongside a man who once cruelly rejected her love and healing touch. But her dreams of Ancient Rome tell of an irreversible and possibly dangerous future. For the distant past and present are about to collide--with the one man she is destined to love.

Assassin's Heart (Order of the Sicari, #2)

Thoughts:
Good afternoon lovelies. I think I am in love with the hero on the cover. Loving right from his jewelry (necklace and bracelet) right down to his leather pants. The open shirt with his not to big chest is perfect. Well this cover caught my attention with the male hotness and the colors and the background enough I want to try this series. This sounds good and so does the first novel Assassin's Honor (Order of the Sicari #1).

Spoil Free Review

I am not going to lie I seriously have the hot's for the sexy tattoo, ex UFC fighter Sloane Michaels. He is caring, sweet with an alpha male attitude. His alpha male attitude is not over the top but he can be bit overly bossy at times but does know when to back down when it comes to Kat. Really Kat knows how to put him in his place to get him to take it down notch. Due to an incident from his past he has to always be in control of himself. He wants Kat and he wants her bad but due to a bad incident in her life she needs to learn to be a fighter.  He agrees to teach her to fight as long as she becomes his "Plus One" his bed buddy and that also means joining him for dinner events etc. They do not rush into the bed buddy part so quick as she has panic attacks due to a bad incident from her past and her last lover she was a basket case. Her panic attacks are not over the top just a fear in certain areas she needs to overcome. This is where his control really comes into play. While he is teaching her to defend herself it is making it harder and harder for both of them to keep their hands off each other. I love these steamy-cold shower-needed scenes especially when it comes to "Tap Out".

The layers about their past is well done, paced out nicely through out the novel. The writing is smooth and everything from their first meeting to being interested in each other flow nicely. It does end in a semi cliffhanger but nothing that I was 'OMG I need the next novel now". But I do want more of Sloane and after reading this I already bought the next 2 in the series.  I enjoyed Jennifer Lyon writing style and to my surprise I have one of her paranormal novel Blood Magic (Wing Slayer Hunters #1) on my bookshelf. I also look forward to see how she writes in the paranormal department.

I got my copy free at amazon. Do not know how long it will be so if interested grab your copy now.  Highly recommend if looking for a well written contemporary romance. Amazon.

Spoil Free Review:

The blurb for True automatically caught my attention with  friends hiring a tattoo bad boy to help their friend Rory lose her virginity with out her knowing. To me this screamed lies and betrayal and usually with that kind of mixture get an intense read. To my disappointment that did not happen.

The books started off with me already disliking Rory and her girlfriends. The inner thoughts going through Rory head while almost getting raped and the fact that her girlfriends did not even go back to the dorm with her to comfort her was a big turn off. Before all this Rory annoyed to me no end with her negative inner thinking about herself and everything around her. I guess I should of known I was not going to like her friends I mean after all what kind of best friends would hire someone to take away another friend virginity. I get she is insecure and had almost everyone crap on her, whole entire life. But she did not grow with the novel.

Tyler was okay nothing to swoon over.  Yes he said the right things that were sweet but where was that tatted up bad boy. Yes he loved his brothers and tried his hardest to take care of them since their home life really sucked. Yes he is pierced down below and that is sexy but the outcome of the sex scenes were boring and nothing to get all hot and bothered about. Do not get me wrong I have read many NA novels that have somewhat lacked in the sex department but at least the sexual tension was hot enough or the plot execution was good to at least outcome the bad sexing. There was no build up or sexual tension.

As the story progress it dealt with a lot of real issues lies, betrayal, drug addiction, almost rape. But the outcome for all was rushed and unbelievable. I did not get to feel their pain and heart ache. I will admit I did feel a little for Tyler when he brought Rory home to deal with his drug addict mother. He did break my heart when he was trying to comfort his mom and the terrible things she said to his younger brother who has Down Syndrome, but then it was rushed.

I almost did not finish at 50% when Grant who almost rapes Rory wants to apologize and everyone is okay with it even Tyler. I was so disappointed by the outcome when Rory found out about her friends paying Tyler to sleep with her. Because of this I  needed to find out how, when and reactions were going to be like when Tyler finds out Rory knows. A another huge disappointment. The ending was also rushed.

True should of had some angst and drama with all the issues it had going on but the execution for all was poorly done. For me when reading a NA story that is going to have real issues I need the angst and drama that comes along with it,  sadly this series is not for me

Quote-Tastic: Branded By Fire by Nalini Singh

Quote-Tastic is a meme hold on Mondays by Herding Casts & Burning Soup.  Join them  every Monday and share a favorite quote that's grabbed ya for one reason or another.

One of my favorite for shifter novels is mix breeds. If done right you will be in for a good novel getting a Feline and Wolf. Nalini Singh nailed it with Mercy (Cat shifter) and Riley (Wolf Shifter) in Branded By Fire. They are one of my favorite book couples. Love their banter through out the novel.

Fun Banter

“I don't need a mate,” she muttered, staring up at the bright circle of the early autumn moon. “But can't you send me a nice, sexy, strong male to dance with? Pretty please?” She hadn't had a lover for close to eight months now, and it was starting to hurt on every level. “He doesn't even have to be smart, just good between the sheets.” Good enough to unsnap the tension in her body, allow her to function again. Because sex wasn't simply about pleasure for a cat like her—it was about affection, about trust, about everything good. “Though right this second, I'd take plain old hot sex.”

That was when Riley walked out of the shadows. “Got an itch, kitty?” .......................................................................................

“So what, you followed me hoping I’d lower my standards and sleep with a wolf?” She intentionally made “wolf” sound about as appetizing as “reptile.”

Riley’s jaw tightened under a shadow of stubble a shade darker than the deep chestnut of his hair. “You want to claw at me, kitty-cat? Come on.”

Her hands clenched. She really wasn’t this much of a bitch. But goddamn Riley had a way of lighting her fuse. “Sorry, I don’t beat defenseless puppies.”

He laughed. He actually laughed. She hissed at him. “What’s so funny?”

“We both know who’s the dominant here...and you’re not it.”

Sexual Banter

A hand in her hair, wrenching back her head. "What's my name?"

She scratched trails down his back. He didn't even wince. "My name, kitty. Say my name."

"Mr. Mud Stick, Muddie for short," she said, even as she rubbed herself against the hard thrust of his denim-covered erection, the roughness of the fabric an exquisite sensation. She would've liked naked skin even more, but he wasn't budging.

"Say it, or no cock for you today."

Her mouth fell open. "Fuck you."

"You'll be doing that shortly.”

Though DarkRiver sentinel Mercy is feeling the pressure to mate, she savagely resists when Riley Kincaid, a lieutenant from the SnowDancer pack, tries to possess her. The problem is not simply that he pushes her buttons; the problem is that he’s a wolf, she’s a cat, and they’re both used to being on top.

But when a brilliant changeling researcher is kidnapped from DarkRiver territory, Mercy and Riley must work together to track the young man—before his shadowy captors decide he’s no longer useful. Along the way, the two dominants may find that submitting to one another uncovers not just a deadly conspiracy, but a passion so raw that it’ll leave them both branded by fire…
